Before MDUP was formed in 1990, in Mbarara District Persons with disabilities were not involved in Planning and implementating programmes meant to benefit them.

Stemming from a grassroots movement, our organization has a rich history of empowering people with disabilities to lead fulfilling lives. From humble beginnings as a small support group, The DU has grown into a comprehensive service provider, offering a wide array of programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of our community. Our journey is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves equal opportunities, regardless of their abilities, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to breaking down barriers and creating a more inclusive society.
